Thai Basil fried rice….

Thai food is one of my Husband’s favorite food. I never believed that pregnancy changes your taste buds until I experienced the same during my pregnancy. Archie’s Thai kitchen is the best and our favorite Thai restaurant in Las vegas. Pad Thai Noodles and Thai Basil Fried Rice were my favorite dishes from that restaurant. The flavors and smells of Thai food are mouth watering. I wanted to share a veggie version of Thai basil fried rice. Easy to prepare and delicious to eat.


Rice : 2 cups(uncooked)(I used sona masoori rice, Generally they use Jasmine Rice).
cooking oil : 2 Tbsp.
garlic : 1 clove, minced.
red Thai chillies : 4 fresh,chopped.
button mushrooms : 1 cup,chopped.
long beans : 1/2 cup,chopped.
onion : 1 cup,chopped.
carrot : 1 count.
scallions : 1/4 cup,thinly sliced.
Tofu : 1/2 cup cubed and fried.

Sauce mixture:
3 Tbsp soy sauce (Actual recipe from where I got this information used mushroom flavored soy sauce)
1 Tbsp lime juice
1/2 tsp. white pepper, ground
1/2 tsp. sugar

Salt if needed.
1 tomato, diced, for garnish
1 cucumber, sliced, for garnish

16 Thai basil leaves


  • Cook rice and allow it to cool completely.
  • In a hot pan add oil, garlic and chillies. Allow them to fry till the garlic gets brown.
  • Now add onions and all the veggies (mushrooms, carrots, long beans), fry them for 1 min.
  • Then add cooked rice and mix well.fry it for one more minute.
  • Add sauce mixture and stir until evenly distributed.
  • Add basil leaves, stir, and remove from heat.
  • Serve hot with the garnishes tomato,cucumber and enjoy….

      Superb recipe.. Mine & Prasad’s favorite. Whenever I call to order for take out, the restaurant guy adds basil fried rice by default to our order..:) Will try this out and let you know..
